A fatal traffic collision in which a white Chevrolet truck crashed into a tree was reported at 12:11 p.m. today on Highway 243 near Cedar Glen Dr. Traffic in both directions is stopped while CHP, IFPD and Cal Fire crews assist at the scene and are awaiting a Coroner's unit.
IFPD Chief Patrick Reitz said the highway could remain closed for several hours. The vehicle will be removed by the coroner's office eventually, but no unit is available at this time.
UPDATE 4:30 p.m.: The roadway is clear and traffic is allowed through in both directions.
UPDATE 4 p.m.: By 4 p.m. one lane of controlled traffic was allowed through.
