Jim Crandall, Palms to Pines Golf Association handicap chair, provided this report about the Friday, Oct. 19, golf tournament.

The club held its regular monthly tournament at Oak Valley Golf Club in Beaumont. It was a perfect fall day and the course was in excellent shape.

Regular 2012-13 Tournament
Les Widerynski (course handicap 18) shot a net 68 to take first place; Dan Slattery (28) shot a net 71 and finished second; John LoGiudice (24) took third with a net 73; John Brower (9) and Robert Priefer (27) with net 76s tied for fourth place.

In the four closest-to-the-pin contests, Widerynski won on hole 3, Wayne Sleme won on hole 6 and Crandall won on hole 11. The other par three, hole 14, went unscathed.

2012 Playoffs
The club championship between Chuck Alkire and Bob Stearns was supposed to be determined at this tourney, too. Since Stearns was out of town, the match will still be played at Oak Valley, but before the next regular tourney.

The top eight point finishers of the year go into match-play playoffs for the club championship in August, September and October. A member has to compete in at least five regular season tournaments and have a handicap no greater than 24.4 in order to qualify for the playoffs.
