The recent rainfall did little to mitigate the sparse rainfall since July 1. Through Monday, the Keenwild Ranger Station recorded slightly more than half an inch of rain from Thursday through Sunday night.
The total rain recorded at Keenwild this rain year has been 3.5 inches, more than 2.3 inches shy of the average Idyllwild rainfall through the end of November. The long-term average precipitation during November has been 2.4 inches, but Keenwild recorded barely an inch this year.
Based on the Idyllwild Fire Station rain records, more than 8 inches of rain fell here through November 2011 (the first five months of the 2011-12 rain year).
