For only the second time this season, Brendan Steele missed a cut on the PGA Tour. He shot 75-74 — 149 at the Wells Fargo Championship in Charlotte, N.C., last week, and was three shots back of the cut number.

The stats show that Idyllwild native had trouble keeping his drives in the fairways. He still hit a respectable percentage of greens in regulation, but was leaving himself putts that were too long to score well.

Steele will play this week in the $9.5 million The Players Championship, informally known as the 5th major, at Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., where the winner’s share is a whopping $1.7 million.
