Penelope Engard, history buff and educator, will give a free lecture on American women authors of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 22, in the Idyllwild Library Community Room.

The authors include Louisa May Alcott, Maya Angelou, Pearl Buck, Emily Dickinson, Edna Ferber, Helen Hunt Jackson, Harper Lee, Toni Morrison, Harriet Beecher Stowe, Ida Tarbell, Alice Walker, Edith Wharton, Julia Peterkin and MFK Fisher.

Engard is a native Virginian who presented her first professional lecture at age 9. She lectured through the University of California, Riverside, Extension’s Sher Lifelong Learning Institute.

All ages are welcome and refreshments will be served. Donations are accepted.
