Grupo Bohemio, popular six-piece Latin and classic rock group, returns to Idyllwild Summer Concert Series serving some jalapeno-flavored saucy and sizzling up-tempo music.

Manny Torres, Bohemio leader, said locals should break out their dancing shoes since dance music is Bohemio’s bag. The group, based in the Coachella Valley, has been together for 13 years.

“On the R and B side, we’ll be playing some Earth Wind and Fire and Commodores,” said Torres. “For classic rock, some Eagles, Santana, Journey and ZZ Top. Maybe a little soft country, such as Brooks and Dunn, and Alan Jackson. A little something for everyone.” Bohemio also serves up mainstream Top 40, Tex Mex and Rock ’n Espanol, according to Torres.

Bohemio has played at Disney’s California Adventures and has opened for groups such as La Mafia, Little Joe, Malo and Emilio, and Freddy Fender. The band is composed of Jacinto “Chad” Cancino on drums and lead vocals, Ruben Cancino on keyboard and vocals, Torres on rhythm and lead guitar, Lupe Garza on bass guitar, Ken Hudson on percussion, and Juan Hernandez on sax and vocals.

Bohemio hits the concert stage at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 11, at the Idyllwild Community Center site. An opening act, to be determined, according to ISCS board member Pete Holzman, begins at 6:30 p.m.

As is the case each summer, Ken Dahleen and his board begin the season without full financing. Call Dahleen at (951) 659-2229 for sponsorship and donor information. Sponsors are advertised on banners at the concert venue.
