Idyllwild voters choose Layton, Charles-Stigall, and Andrewson

Two new faces will join the Idyllwild Fire Protection District Commission in December. Nancy Layton, the leading vote getter, and Rhonda Andrewson will join incumbent Commission President Jeannine Charles-Stigall on the Commission.

Only 22 votes separated the top three candidates. The fourth candidate, former Fire Chief Steve Kunkle finished a distant fourth, 64 votes behind Andrewson.

Commissioners Jerry Buchanan and Larry Donahoo will remain on the commission; while Commissioners Pete Capparelli and Dr. Charles “Chip” Schelly chose not to run for re-election.

The new board term begin the first Friday of December.
