The U.S. Forest Service reported that the Little Fire, which started Saturday afternoon, Aug. 24, was fully contained Thursday evening, Aug. 29. The fire’s size was 97 acres and its cause is still under investigation.

Firefighters continued to improve the fireline and extinguish burning logs and materials within the fire perimeter.

The fire burned chaparral and scattered timber in rugged terrain approximately 1 mile south of the Lake Hemet Dam on the west slope of Little Thomas Mountain.

The fire did not threaten any homes or structures.

Thomas Mountain Road (6S13) remains closed between Highway 74 and the junction with Rouse Ridge (5S15). Cottonwood Truck Trail and Rouse Ridge and Thomas Mountain roads to the south off of Hop Patch Springs remain open.
