At right, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Mike Murawski, Jeanine Bernal, 32, of Idyllwild, was driving her 2000 blue Volkswagen Beetle northbound on Highway 243 near Jameson Drive Saturday night before midnight when she lost control, overturning the vehicle in the middle of the highway. An Idyllwild Fire Department ambulance transported Bernal to San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital with minor injuries to her face. According to witnesses, a male passenger fled the scene on foot up Jameson Drive from Highway 243 and was not located.
