The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department announced the arrest of a suspect in a local burglary. On Thursday, Jan. 16, a Sheriff’s deputy from the Hemet Station arrested Kristopher Niemi for the burglary while he was walking along Highway 243.
On November 12, 2013, deputies from the Hemet Station investigated a burglary at Idyllwild Pines Camp. The suspect, described as a white male adult with blond hair, was seen running from a storage building on the grounds.
A witness followed the suspect and took a photograph of him as he ran from the scene. Postings on a social media site indicated the suspect was a local transient, later identified as the 40-year-old Niemi.
After making the arrest, the deputy discovered an old ticket stub while searching Niemi. The ticket stub, from a well-known college rivalry game played in the1960s, is likely a collector’s item and stolen property.
Anyone who may have information regarding the owner of the ticket stub is encouraged to contact the Hemet Station at (951) 791-3400 or Riverside County Sheriff’s Dispatch at (951)776-1099.
