Jim Crandall, Palms to Pines Golf Association handicap chair, provided this report about the Friday, Jan. 17, golf tournament at the Legends course on the Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon in Beaumont.

The sun was shining, but gusty winds steered errant golf balls into unpleasant circumstances.

Ken Garelick (course handicap 24) managed to keep his shots low and straight as he posted a net 69 to win the tourney by 4 strokes. Bill Ragland (16) took second with a net 73. John Brower (9) and Gary Brown (14) tied for third with net 75s, and there was a four-way tie for fifth place between Pete Capparelli (21), Jim Crandall (14), Pete Holzman (17) and John LoGiudice (22), all with net 77s.

The closest-to-the-pin winners on the four par 3s were Crandall on hole no. 4, Holzman on hole no. 8, John McAndrews on hole no. 12 and Garelick on hole no. 17.
