The Rustic Theatre hosts INHALE, a reggae/rock/punk/ska band from Riverside, this Friday, March 28 at 10 p.m.

The show is part of the Rustic’s effort to bring more live music to Idyllwild and establish the theater as a local music venue.

INHALE already has a strong local following. The band was formed in 2005 and is influenced by Sublime, 311, Bob Marley, Hepcat, Long Beach Short Bus, Barrington Levy, Steel Pulse and Peter Tosh, among others.

Show promoters Samuel Markus and Jennifer Thorington, who live in Idyllwild and own the music publicity, licensing and production company Working Brilliantly, said they hope INHALE will draw “positive-vibe” music lovers of all ages.

“We are testing the waters to start a musical series of concerts at the Rustic by bringing highly talented artists up the Hill to give locals and tourists a taste of all different types of original music,” Thorington explained in an email. “If this works out and there is support from the local community, we will be bringing in acts at least once a month.”

They reached out to a handful of Southern California reggae-influenced bands and INHALE was quick to respond and eager to bring its musical styling to the Hill.

With INHALE’s strong following throughout the Inland Empire, Markus and Thorington expect fans to make their way to Idyllwild from the surrounding area as well.

“The goal is to help the Rustic Theatre become a hub for original, live music and our end goal with that would be to build up a strong reputation for Idyllwild/The Rustic as a ‘go to’ venue for musicians so that we can bring in bigger acts for intimate shows,” Thorington wrote. “Working Brilliantly would act as the Rustic’s booking agent at that point for those specific shows.”

The Rustic is coming off a successful March 8 show featuring Idyllwild rock/metal band Throw the Goat and UK punk/metal band The Bastard Sons.

INHALE is set to perform for two hours starting at 10 p.m. this Friday. Tickets cost $12 to $18. They are available for purchase at www.rustictheatre.com. Call the Rustic at 951-659-2747 for more information.
