Last week the Idyllwild Town Crier was recognized with two awards in the Better Newspapers Contest for 2013, sponsored by the California Newspaper Publishers Association.

Jenny Kirchner won second place in the category “Sports Photo” for her photograph of kids at soccer. When advised by the Town Crier of her award, Kirchner wrote, “I am honored that my work is recognized by so many people. I just do what I love to do, and if it makes an impression on others, that is a bonus.

“There’s always something new to learn, and I am constantly reminded how endless that process is. I will always be growing and learning. I wouldn’t be here without the support of this town, and am indebted to them. Thank you to Becky Clark, the Town Crier and to all who have supported me in my career.”

Town Crier News Editor J.P. Crumrine, Publisher-Editor Becky Clark and contributor Jack Clark also received recognition as Blue Ribbon finalists in the category “Best Website” for their Mountain Fire online updates for evacuees.
