The name of the rider of the 2011 Honda motorcyle who died in a fiery crash on Sunday afternoon, April 27, has been released by the Riverside County Coroner’s office. Walter George Krumbach, 54, of El Segundo, was killed when he slammed into the driver’s side door of a 2014 Coachman RV, driven by Nancy Pemberton, 65, of Rancho Mirage. Both the RV and motorcycle were fully engulfed in flames within minutes, also igniting vegetation on the side of the road.
The crash occurred on Highway 74 about a half-mile east of Highway 371.
No one has been charged and the collision is still under investigation, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Darren Meyer. An unidentified male and Pemberton, traveling in the RV along with two dogs, had minor injuries and were not transported by medical personnel.
