Editor:

When I read the letter regarding “No Brown Act violation” from Calvin Gogerty, the only thing that came to mind was that they obviously didn’t have Brown Act training, or if they did, they didn’t pay attention.

In my eight years working for a special district, I’ve had the Brown Act training several times. One of the biggest things that is stressed is that it’s the public’s perception of your actions. You may not have discussed business, but you can’t prove it.  Your word is not good enough.

The fact that you would put the Idyllwild Fire Protection District in that position speaks volumes. If you’re going to be on the board and do right by IFPD, then learn your job; learn what you can and cannot do.

The public is watching and you really don’t need anymore negative publicity.
