At the Idyllwild Library this week: May 22, 2014
As usual on Wednesdays, on May 21 and again on May 28, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Maria Reyes continues her Spanish language class for homeschoolers. It’s a class designed for children, but the whole community is welcome to attend.
On Thursday, May 22, from noon to 3 p.m., the Idyllwild Historical Preservation Review Board will discuss permit requests placed with Riverside County for alterations to buildings within the Historical District. The public is welcome to attend.
From 12 to 2 p.m., also on Thursday, Julie Johnson hosts Teen Book Club for Home-schoolers. For more information call 659-9793.
Also on Thursday, from 1 to 2 p.m., and again on Saturday, May 24, from 11 a.m. to noon, the library staff will provide quick answers to basic computer questions. Call 659-2300 if you need to schedule extended time for your questions. (The library staff is always ready to help you use the library’s bank of public computers.)
Lastly, on Thursday, from 3:30 to 5 p.m., the Forest Folk will present “Idyllwild Elders,” a discussion about organizing our community so that elders can stay on the Hill longer. Come get involved to make our community a great place to grow old and insure that vital local wisdom passes down through the generations. For more information call 659-4146.
On Saturday, May 24, from 12:10 to 6:10 p.m., the Friends of the Idyllwild Library will hold their annual Memorial Day Weekend Book Sale, with book bargains galore.
Monday, May 26 is Memorial Day and the library will be closed.
On Tuesday, May 27, from 6 to 8 p.m., Idyllwild Conversations will discuss Permaculture, a philosophy of working with rather than against nature by looking at plants and animals in all their function.
On Wednesday, May 28, from 3 to 4:30 p.m., Saffron presents art projects geared to children ages 6-9. Pre-registration is required. For more information, contact Saffron at 951-541-6056 or Facebook search Poppycat Studio.
