The Hemet Unified School District directors appointed Barry Kayrell as its next District superintendent. The vote was unanimous 7-0. Kayrell is currently the superintendent of Beaumont Unified School District, but will start at Hemet on Oct. 1. His starting salary will be $205,000 annually.

Sentenced to jail On June 10, Riverside County Superior Court Judge Jerome Brock sentenced Michael McRae Kellner to two years in county jail for his guilty plea of burglary.
