Last week at Hoylake, England, Brendan Steele made his first appearance in The Open Championship, sometimes known in the U.S. as the British Open. After a very rocky double-double start Thursday morning, the Idyllwild native played the back nine in a sizzling 3-under-par 34. However, he was not able to carry that over into Friday’s play, and he missed the cut after the second round.

Still, what an experience it must have been just to play in the oldest golf tournament in the world.

Steele is sitting out the Canadian Open this week.
