Santa’s Mail Box is back

NORTH POLE MAIL: Evelyn Teel, 3, is the first to drop her letter to Santa in the North Pole-bound mail box at the Idyllwild Post Office. No injury in traffic crash

At 11:45 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, Megan Reeves, 30, of Idyllwild, was traveling west on Highway 243. She failed to park correctly, and her white 1997 Ford F150 pickup rolled forward and hit a wooden fence. Damage was minor.

HUSD’s new superintendent

The Hemet Unified School District directors appointed Barry Kayrell as its next District superintendent. The vote was unanimous 7-0. Kayrell is currently the superintendent of Beaumont Unified School District, but will start at Hemet on Oct. 1. His starting salary will be $205,000 annually.
