On Thursday, Feb. 12, the Hemet Unified School District announced the resignation of trustee Dr. Lisa DeForest, effective Feb. 11. She had served on the board for almost seven years.
DeForest resigned because of her move from the district.
The governing board will begin the process of filling the vacancy in Trustee Area 3 (Hemet) at its Feb. 24 board meeting. The board will have to decide whether to make a provisional appointment or order an election.
“I only got to work with Dr. DeForest for a relatively short time, and I found her to be forthright, diligent and honest,” said board member Vic Scavarda of Idyllwild. “She was not afraid to offer a different perspective on certain issues, and she was an effective representative for her constituency. I also appreciated her sense of humor. She will be missed.”
