Once again, Wendy Watts, Town Hall administrator, has organized a week of speakers for local youth during the upcoming Idyllwild School spring break, from March 30 to April 3.
Just as last year, different individuals will come to Town Hall and talk to the kids on the topic, “What do you want to be when you grow up?”
“Any time Idyllwild School is on break, we step up the activities here,” she said.
Each day, a different speaker will visit and describe their job and what they do. This year’s group of speakers represents some different professions from the last year.
Monday, the first speaker is Wildlife Biologist Todd Hoggan. On Tuesday, Susan Righetti from the Idyllwild Library will be guest speaker in a return engagement from 2014.
Thursday’s speaker is Dr. Jennifer Gee, director of the James San Jacinto Mountains Reserve, a unit of the University of California Natural Reserve System. The final guest is yoga instructor Lucianna LoPresto on Friday.
To hear each of these speakers, the event is free and open to the public from 11 a.m. to noon at Town hall.
On Wednesday, Baker and Brew owner Katie White will speak and have cookies for the children to decorate. This one event will have a $5 fee.
“This is like having a field trip come to us,” Watts said. “It’s pretty spectacular for the children.”
Last year’s speakers included firefighters, sheriff’s deputies and the Idyll Beast, as well as Righetti.
