In light of the uproar over the removal of Sunny, the Nature Center cat, I’ve come up with a few questions that might help Riverside County decide if this action is truly necessary.

1. Which poses a greater threat to the health of our forest?
a. Humans who dump trash and toss cigarette butts
b. A four-year drought
c. Forest fire
d. A fully vaccinated, well cared-for domestic cat

2. Inside the buildings of the Nature Center, which poses a greater threat to the health and well-being of the staff, volunteers and visitors?
a. A visiting human infected with norovirus, chickenpox or meningococcal meningitis
b. A fully vaccinated, well cared-for domestic cat

3. If 1,000 people were to be polled, which do you believe would the majority say is of least concern when it comes to their health and safety?
a. A rattlesnake
b. A hungry, rabid coyote
c. A mountain lion
d. A fully vaccinated, well cared-for domestic cat

4. During a visit to the Nature Center, which of the following would last likely be a threat to a person’s health and well-being?
a. The drive to the Nature Center
