This week, the Riverside County Registrar of Voters began mailing  vote-by-mail ballots for the Aug. 25 Special District Mail Ballot Election. This includes elections for two Hill water districts — Idyllwild and Pine Cove.

Ballots should arrive in mailboxes by the end of the week. In order to be counted in the election, voted ballots must be received at the Registrar of Voters office by 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, or be postmarked on or before election day and received no later than three days after election day.

As an all-mail ballot election, there will be no established polling places. Call the registrar’s office at 951-486- 200 with any questions about eligibility to vote.

Vote-by-mail ballots may be returned through the postal service or deposited in vote-by-mail drop-off boxes. Visit the Registrar of Voters’ website at www.voteinfo.net for more information on drop-off box locations and hours of operation. A 24-hour drop box also is available outside the main entrance of the registrar’s office at 2724 Gateway Drive in Riverside.

Early voting at the Registrar of Voters office began Monday, July 27, and continues through Aug. 25, Monday through Friday (excluding county holidays), from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on election day from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
