Cal Fire rescued two people over the weekend, one on Saturday, Aug. 8, on Suicide Rock and another on Black Mountain Truck Trail on Sunday, Aug. 9.
Around 6:48 p.m. Saturday, Cal Fire responded to reports of an injured rock climber on Suicide Rock. Cal Fire and American Medical Response arrived at the scene, but the climber’s injuries required an airlift by Copter Star 94 to a nearby helibase and then transport by ground ambulance to an area hospital. The climber sustained minor injuries.
The second incident, at 4:55 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 9, involved response by AMR, Cal Fire, California Highway Patrol, Riverside County Fire Department and U.S. Forest Service to the Black Mountain Truck Trail. Firefighters made patient contact with the hiker. She had sustained minor injuries to her ankle. Firefighters packaged her for transport and hiked her out. At 7:10 p.m., the patient was transported by air to an area hospital.
