During the night of Tuesday, Sept. 8, someone broke into the Idyllwild Nature Center office, gaining entrance through a window several feet above ground level, according to Park Interpreter Amanda Allen.

The staff was alerted to the break-in because it set off the alarm system. Allen arrived shortly after a Riverside County Sheriff’s deputy.

Nothing was taken from inside, but Allen reported that the center’s large yellow tent, the focus of the Nature Center’s annual Butterfly Daze event, was taken.

The intruder appears to have manners, according to Allen. A potted plant on the windowsill through which entrance to office was made, was knocked to the floor and the container broken. The debris and plant were found placed on a nearby table.
