Tim Bashor is the new head custodian at Idyllwild School. “New” might not be totally accurate since he was hired permanently in March 2015 when the previous head custodian could not resume his duties. Bashor, a Defiance, Ohio native (about 55 miles southwest of Toledo in the state’s northwest corner), has been with Hemet Unified for eight years, working mostly in Hemet as part of the night crew in all the district’s elementary schools.

Bashor had also previously worked several months temporarily at Idyllwild School. Of his being chosen for the position, Bashor said, “I think it helped that I had already worked here for a period of time. I’m so glad to have the opportunity to come here to Idyllwild School,” said Bashor. “I’d been looking for a school to be head custodian, work the day shift and be part of the community. That’s the biggest thing, to be part of the community.”

In Ohio, Bashor had worked for 15 years as a welder and supervisor in a machinist shop that specialized in van conversions. When the company closed, Bashor relocated to California since his wife was from the Murrieta area. Before being hired by HUSD, he worked in the home construction business as a customer service representative.

He has been married for 20 years to wife Pam. They recently celebrated their anniversary. He has two adult stepchildren, Matt and Chelsea.

Given his Midwest roots, he finds the fit at Idyllwild School particularly appropriate for him. “The teachers and the administration are great. And, as head custodian, I get to know the kids as well. I really enjoy this school and this town. I plan to stay.”
