The San Bernardino National Forest is seeking public input for its upcoming California Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Division grant application to be submitted on March 7.

California state regulations require public input prior to the preliminary application deadline in this fund-allocation process. The agreements support OHV management activities on the national forest, including operations and maintenance, law enforcement, development, planning, restoration, and education and safety.

The California Department of Parks and Recreation and the SBNF have maintained a successful partnership for more than 30 years, with funding assistance for well-managed OHV recreation on national forest lands. In 2015, the Forest Service was successful in obtaining more than $1.5 million in grant funds to provide the public with world-class OHV recreation opportunities.

The public is encouraged to provide suggestions for grants that will better the OHV program. Two meetings are scheduled for input. From 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3, at the San Bernardino National Forest Supervisor’s Office, 602 S. Tippecanoe Ave., San Bernardino, and from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, at the Sizzler Restaurant, 1461 S. Rimpula Ave., Corona.

Anyone unable to attend the meetings, or who has questions, may send comments to [email protected] by Feb. 17 with the words “OHV Grant Application” in the subject line.

Anyone unable to send comments electronically may send them to OHV Grant Application, Deveree Kopp, USFS Mountaintop Ranger Station, P.O. Box 290, Fawnskin, CA 92333.
