A second in the past two weeks of a near-3.0-magnitude earthquake occurred at about 11:20 Thursday night.

The tremor was about 7.5 miles west of Idyllwild and 4 miles southeast of Valle Vista. It was located on the San Jacinto Fault on Rouse Ridge.

Initially, the quake’s magnitude was estimated to be 3.2. While no damage has been reported, it was felt in Idyllwild and as far south as Carlsbad and east to Sun City.

On Monday, May 9, another quake, magnitude 2.5, occurred only miles northwest of the larger quake.
