Christi Barrett new HUSD superintendent
The Hemet Unified School District Governing Board selected Christi Barrett as the new superintendent. Barrett, currently the assistant superintendent of Human Resources at Val Verde Unified School District, will take on her new role starting July 1.
The board announced the appointment at its Tuesday, May 17, meeting. In January, Supt. Dr. Barry Karyrell announced his retirement at the end of June.
A reception to meet the new superintendent was held from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the governing board room.
Barrett has held various positions in education to prepare her for her new leadership role. She began her career as a special education teacher, and served as a site principal and as an assistant superintendent for two school districts. She currently is in the Urban Leadership Doctoral program at Claremont Graduate University.
Barrett expressed her excitement to come to Hemet as the new superintendent and community member. She said she is looking forward to joining the HUSD team and focusing on academic achievements for all students.
I have a grave concern; Friday a substitute teacher in my son’s class forced the students to read CNN a know nonfactual news source(tabloid) news agency articles bashing Pres’ Trump and condoning anti gun legistlation. My son was forced to say yes or no on gun laws. And they were not allowed to leave the class until writing a paragraph on why they think that way. First I want to know why? Then I want to know why another news agency didn’t get equal time to oppose CNN and it’s anti American view points? Lastely these kids are 12 and 13 I feel your attempt to indoctrinate young minds to a liberal anti law abiding thinking is wrong. I will be writing DOJ Sessions and the President on this issue. Also I’ll be bringing this up on multimedia. Thank you for time.
