Just before 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 11, Cal Fire/Riverside County firefighters, Palm Springs Fire, California Highway Patrol and Riverside County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to a report of an adult female hiker with a rattlesnake bite.
The woman had been hiking on Skyline Trail in Tahquitz Falls west of Palm Springs for several miles when she was bit.
A CHP helicopter located the patient. A sheriff’s department helicopter hoisted the patient to a nearby landing zone at La Mirada Road near Sunny Dunes Road in Palm Springs where paramedics transported her by ground ambulance to an area hospital with moderate injuries.
AMR and Cal Fire/Riverside County firefighters responded to a snake bite victim on Bonita Vista Road in Garner Valley, an incident reported at 2:38 p.m. the same day.
The victim, described as an elderly female, was transported via ground ambulance to an area hospital for treatment of what appeared to be a rattlesnake bite.
The current conditions of the patients were not reported.
