Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Unit is investigating the circumstances that led to the death of Jerome Salgado, 37 of San Jacinto. Salgado had been reported as missing on Sunday, May 22. He had last been seen on Friday, May 20 in the Hemet area. Salgado’s body was found in a gravesite in a remote location on the Soboba Reservation.
At 1:42 p.m. on Sunday June 11, Hemet Station deputies received a telephone call regarding human remains in a remote location on the Soboba Reservation, in the area of the Indian Creek and Ridge Truck Trails.
Investigating deputies found what appeared to be a gravesite. Homicide Unit investigators responded and owing to darkness, secured the gravesite until the next morning. Upon further investigation, an adult male was recovered from the burial site.
The victim was later identified as Salgado, missing since May 20. Salgado had sustained traumatic injuries that had caused his death. The investigation is being treated as a homicide and the Sheriff’s Department said no further information would be released at this time.
