On April 21, the Hemet Unified School District hosted its fifth-annual Reclassification Ceremony at Tahquitz High School’s football stadium.

Five Idyllwild School students — Jaysen Arreola, Heide Chavez Mendoza, Renguo Han, Charles Yoon and Cristian Ramirez Rivas — were recognized during the ceremony.

The ceremony honors students in the English Learner program who have completed the requirements and are now being reclassified as an English Proficient student.

“All five students worked hard in acquiring the skills necessary to achieve English Language proficiency,” said Idyllwild School Principal Matt Kraemer. “Their work habits are excellent and they are all outstanding citizens and excellent role models for their peers. I’m very proud of them.”

Describing the ceremony, HUSD Public Information Officer Alexandrea Cass wrote, “This year they have reached a great goal. [These students] have exited the English Learner program and have each been reclassified as an English Proficient student.”

Cass said HUSD recognizes that this achievement requires extra effort and dedication, which is the reason it congratulates these students.
