Shannon Ng, branch manager of the Idyllwild Library, is the new president of the Idyllwild Community Fund Advisory Committee. She was unanimously elected by members of the 2016 board. She brings strong managerial and communication skills to her new position as ICF president.
The ICF Advisory Committee manages a fund, started by a local couple in the 1990s, that provides annual grants to local nonprofits. The committee also is charged with growing the fund through events, appeal letters and fundraisers.
Ng, who has a master’s degree in library and information science from UCLA, and an undergraduate degree in English from Cal State San Bernardino, has worked for nearly 20 years in the library science field, with emphases on acquisitions and programs for young people.
Throughout her professional life, Ng has always found time to volunteer. “Volunteering is essential to everyone’s character,” she said. “It’s the strong part of being a citizen.” Ng is an American Red Cross CPR trainer and has been active with the American Cancer Society’s Relay of Life and the National Charity League. She has been active in many capacities with the Girl Scouts of America, including directing fundraising drives.
Joining the 2017 board are three new ICF board members: Kathy Davis, Father Dan Rondeau and Carol Mendoza. Current board member Bruce Ross was elected as the new vice president for event management. He also will continue to assist Fundraising VP Chris Scott with the board’s critical mission of growing the fund in order to provide more money for annual nonprofit grants.
There are still openings on the board. Contact Ng at 951-659-2300 if interested in serving.
