My family and I went to the Nature Center in early February for a hike and were absolutely devastated by the amount of garbage on site. There was literally trash every few feet.

We went back on Valentine’s Day and did a clean-up hike. The grounds had already been cleaned a great deal, but we still picked up four large bags of garbage, including broken sleds, gloves, beverage bottles, food packaging, diapers, dog waste bags, etc.

Attached is an image of two of the four bags we collected. We wanted to share the image with the paper/town. To have our community Nature Center treated as a trash dump by visitors is beyond words.

I’m wondering if there is an action plan started for the future — perhaps a “Leave No Trace” campaign and additional garbage cans?
