The California Highway Patrol reported two incidents on Hill roads over the last week.

At 1:15 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, George Lohr, 69, of Bodenwohr, Germany, was driving his red 1995 Dodge Ram pickup truck, towing a trailer, when he was struck by a white 1999 Dodge pickup. Lohr had been driving south on Pinyon Drive, just off of Highway 74 in Pinyon Pines, when struck by the other vehicle. The other vehicle proceeded without stopping. As such, the driver remains unidentified at this point, according to the preliminary CHP report. There were no injuries to Lohr, but the damage to his vehicle and trailer were noted as moderate.

At 1:16 p.m. Sunday, March 19, Dorian Thompson, 18, of Cathedral City, was riding his black 2007 Yamaha motorcycle east on Highway 74, east of the intersection with Highway 371, when he lost control, ran off the roadway and hit the side of the mountain. According to the report, Thompson was riding too fast for roadway conditions.

Thompson complained of pain to his entire body and right hand, and was transported by American Medical Response to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs. There were no other vehicles involved in this incident.
