Recently, upper Fern Valley residents experienced most of the same issues reminiscent of last winter’s snow-visitor invasions.

I’m referring to the Fourth of July laser show. Annoyances like trespassing, trash and amplified music aside, there also were some real safety issues.

The unlit streets were like pedestrian malls. Cars were driving with their lights off. Cars parked anywhere, blocking access for emergency vehicles. I’m not sure those who left their cigarette butts were thinking about fire safety.

Perhaps as a condition for future events, the promoters should be required to provide clean-up and law enforcement so the negative consequences caused by these events do not solely fall on the area residents.
