The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department invites the Hill community to a special “National Night Out Celebration,” announced Capt. Leonard Purvis of the Hemet Station.

The event is intended to raise support for crime-prevention awareness and public safety.

Staff from the Hemet Station will be at the Idyllwild Community Center site from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1.

Displays of specialized equipment that law enforcement, firefighters and public safety members use will be shown. Also, a host of activities and displays have been arranged for children of all ages.

The National Association of Town Watch is a nonprofit crime prevention organization dedicated to the development and promotion of crime prevention in communities across the nation. It sponsors the “National Night Out” throughout the country.

The event promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods a safe and better place to live, according to Purvis.
