Thursday morning, Aug. 17, an earthquake magnitude 3.1 occurred on the Morongo Indian Reservation just north of Cabazon and Banning.
The quake was felt as far west as Riverside, south to Hemet and east to Cathedral City.
Three residents from Idyllwild reported the quake and assigned it a value of “2-3,” which the U.S. Geological Survey defines as “weak.” Most responses seemed to describe it as a magnitude 2 quake.
As of Saturday morning, all but one of 11 small tremors have occured in the region.
