Last night, Tuesday, Oct. 3, at about 9:15 p.m., a fire was report on or near Black Mountain.

This afternoon, Wednesday, Oct. 4, Gerrelaine Alcordo, deputy public affairs officer at the San Bernardino National Forest reported the Azalea Fire is holding at 12 acres and is already 80 percent contained. Firefighters have spread retardant around the fire and are working the fire lines, she added at noon.

Battalion Chief Matt Boss is the incident commander for the Azalea Fire and two Hot Shot crews have been fighting it.

"The IC said the location is off the Marion Mountain trail above Azalea," she said.
