One a suspected DUI

Two vehicle crashes occurred on Hill roads over the last week. One was a suspected DUI.

According to California Highway Patrol Officer Mike Murawski, Kimberly Ann Young, 56, of Idyllwild, was traveling westbound on Highway 74 near McCall Park Road Sunday about 4 p.m. She lost control of her black Kia Forte, hitting a boulder and careening into a ravine. Young was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of either drugs or alcohol, and was not injured. The U.S. Forest Service helped with traffic control while CHP and Idyllwild Garage cleared the scene.

The first report does not have a time of incident because the report of the incident came in later and has not been updated with the specific incident time. On Wednesday, Oct. 18, Jordan Booth, 33 of Idyllwild was riding his 1978 Yamaha motorcycle southbound on Sylvan Way in Pine Cove when, for unknown reasons, he laid his bike down. Booth was transported by AMR to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs complaining of injury to his right shoulder and left foot and wrist.

At 3:55 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 22, Kimberly Young, 56 of Idyllwild, was driving a 2015 black Kia Forte westbound on Highway 74 near McCall Road when her vehicle veered off the road and struck a rock. Young sustained minor injuries, abrasions to her left shoulder. She was arrested at the site on suspicion of driving under the influence and was transported for evaluation to San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital in Banning. She was subsequently booked at Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility.
