According to California Highway Patrol’s Public Information Officer Darren Meyer, there was one vehicle crash on Hill roads last week. This incident occurred on Highway 74, one-half mile south of Strawberry Creek Bridge.
At 6:42 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 23, James Pomeroy Jr., 73, of Idyllwild, was driving a gray 2016 Ford Escape eastbound, toward Mountain Center, on Highway 74 when, he alleges, another vehicle came into his lane causing him to take evasive action.
In doing so, his vehicle came in contact with the dirt, causing the vehicle to strike a guardrail on the right side of the highway. The impact spun the car around.
Pomeroy was transported by American Medical Response with minor injuries to Riverside University Health System Medical Center in Moreno Valley. There were no passengers in Pomeroy’s vehicle and no other vehicles were involved.
Meyer reads transcripts from the responding CHP officer at the scene to provide these reports. Occasionally, the reports are preliminary and can change with later investigation.
