The California Department of Transportation announced there will be delays on Highway 79 between Temecula and Highway 371 next week. Caltrans deployed multiple crews for various maintenance operations, or “swarm maintenance,” from Tuesday, Dec. 4, through Thursday, Dec. 6.

In order to complete this work, two-way traffic control is in effect from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. each of those days, for traffic on Highway 79 between the Temecula Parkway and Highway 371. Motorists should expect delays, follow detour signs, add extra time to their commute, plan ahead and consider alternate routes to avoid the work zone.

“Swarm maintenance” involves several operations, such as shoulder grading, drainage work and landscape work performed simultaneously.

Check traffic conditions on the Caltrans QuickMap at http://quickmap.dot.ca.gov/ before your trip.
