With thoughts of John Lennon and the holidays this month, my mind turns to: Imagine … a self-sufficient Idyllwild. “You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one.”

Dreaming. Imagining. It’s the beginning of everything possible.

In these disturbing, uncertain times in which we are living, we can think, dream, imagine outside of the box to create a better future today. Individual communities will be called upon to step up where our government fails to do so.

Imagine if our community had its own energy grid, perhaps its own solar array or several solar arrays dispersed throughout to provide unlimited energy needs connected in such a way that poses no threat of fire.

Imagine community greenhouses and wells.

There will always be those who say it can’t be done, it’s not “realistic.” These would be the ones who never allow their dreams to become reality.

For those who know that imagining is the first step to realizing a dream, a thought, an idea, think of John Lennon, Albert Einstein, Mahatma Gandhi, Eckhart Tolle, Deepak Chopra, Oprah, and all who have encouraged and inspired us and have manifested what they have imagined.

Just imagine what can be accomplished when like minds focus on cooperating, collaborating and creating.
