Last week in “Days of Our Nine Lives,” ARF cats and dogs discussed their new year hopes.

Alvin

Little Girl: Happy New Year!

Anabel: And I hope it will be, Little Girl.

Little Girl: It’s off to a good start. Batman found his forever home.

Anabel: And he really deserves to start his new year with a family. He is such a sweet little boy.

Boots: And so is Alvin! What a cute puppy.

Little Girl: He truly is.  There just has to be a family who has the room and the love for a pup.

Boots: And if a puppy is too much, there is always me!

Anabel: Good point. You’re still lots of fun, and you’re also house trained and beyond all the puppy antics.

Anabel

Alvin: Hey! I’ll soon be house trained. And puppy antics are just adorable.

Pepper

Pepper: Everyone settle down. Remember, there is someone out there for each of us. We just need to be patient.

Little Girl: You dogs now have the advantage.

Boots: How’s that?

Little Girl: Don’t you know that 2018 is the year of the dog?

Alvin:  Wow! A whole year devoted to us canines?

Little Girl: That’s right. Does anyone know if there is a year of the cat?

Indigo:  I don’t know, but there is a good song about it!

Little Girl:  Just so humans don’t think 2018 is restricted to adopting dogs!

Boots

Boots: No way. There are just too many cat lovers out there.

Indigo: Let’s all adopt a New Year’s resolution, OK? Let’s resolve to win over any human who comes to visit us.

Little Girl: Well, OK, but I think we’ve been trying to do this all along.

Boots: If you need pointers, I’ll help. Everyone loves me!

Alvin: Me, too!
