The Riverside County Department of Waste Resources has scheduled a tire event in Idyllwild from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 5.
Residents may bring old and unwanted tires — only tires — to the county yard at 25780 Johnson Road that day. This is on the right just beyond the Idyllwild Fire Station.
DWR will have two bins for residents to deposit the unwanted tires. DWR stressed that only tires under 4 feet will be accepted. Tractor tires and tires greater than 200 pounds will not be accepted. DWR staff will be on site to assist the public and answer any questions.
A Household Hazardous Waste day will be available from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 14, at the same location. On that day, the yard will accept paint, automotive, lawn and garden, health care, and household products, electronics, and universal waste (such as batteries and fluorescent bulbs). Do not bring any tires until the May event. Business hazardous waste is not accepted.
