New site below Idyllwild BrewPub

On Tuesday, April 24, Riverside County 3rd District Supervisor Chuck Washington asked his Board of Supervisors’ colleagues to approve Community Improvement Designation funds from the 3rd District to help the Idyllwild Summer Concert Series.

Washington is giving the ISCS $2,000 toward this year’s concerts, which begin July 5.

This year, ISCS will be held on the lower parking lot of the Idyllwild Brewpub. ISCS founder and producer, Ken Dahleen, said, “… the stage [will be] located at the end of the paved area adjoining the lower community center near where the proposed amphitheater is to be located.”

Dahleen expressed his gratitude to both Washington for the donation, and Lois and Dave Butterfield — donors of the property — for their generosity.

This is necessary as the San Jacinto Mountain Community Center board commences the first phase of construction on the site later this spring. Phase one includes grading and parking. Amphitheater construction still is to be planned and permits obtained, thus, necessitating the move of the concert series until construction is complete.

Using the new location also has resulted in the need to obtain new permits from Riverside County, which Dahleen is still working to acquire, he added.

While the ICC site has been the home for the ISCS for several years, its temporary uprooting will be over with the construction of the amphitheater. “Our community is enriched when nonprofit organizations, local businesses and private individuals share the responsibility of doing whatever it takes to ensure that the Idyllwild Summer Concerts will have a home during the time when the Idyllwild Community Center site is under construction,” said Janice Lyle, president of the ICC board.
