About 4:50 a.m. Tuesday, a 4.5-magnitude earthquake occurred about 9 miles north of Cabazon. The earth trembled as far south as San Diego and west to Santa Clarita.

Four other temblors followed this quake. Their magnitudes ranged from 2.2 to 3.2. The last one recorded was about 5:40 a.m.

No major damage has been reported.

Twelve Idyllwild residents indicated on the U.S. Geological Earthquake site (earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/ci37918679#dyfi) that they had felt it. Thousands throughout Southern California reported feeling the shaking.
