At 6:41 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, Sabrina Garcia, 25, of San Jacinto, was driving a black, 2002 Mercedes westbound on Highway 74, east of Bee Canyon Truck Trail, according to California Highway Patrol Public Information Officer Darren Meyer.

In the right front seat was James Honeycutt, 28, also from San Jacinto.  The driver was wearing her seatbelt; the passenger was not.

The driver allowed her vehicle to drift onto the north dirt shoulder of Highway 74. It subsequently collided with the dirt embankment and overturned back on to the roadway.

The unrestrained passenger was ejected as the vehicle overturned. He was declared deceased on scene.

The driver suffered minor injuries and refused transport to the hospital.  Drugs and/or alcohol have been ruled out as a contributing factor(s) in this collision.  The collision is being investigated by CHP Officer Bolon.
