A wildland Fire was reported at 2:19 p.m. Thursday, May 17, in Winchester, west of Hemet. The fire is 1,261 acres and is 40 percent contained as of 7:21 p.m.

A female hiker was rescued from Tahquitz Rock in Idyllwild after sustaining injury to an extremity, according to Riverside County Fire Department spokesperson Jody Hagemann.
