Saturday evening, a small fire (about two-thirds of an acre) started near the Bee Canyon Recreation Shooting Area, according to Zachary Behrens, public information officer for the San Bernardino National Forest.
The fire was extinguished and did not spread.
The U.S. Forest Service attack included Vista Grande Hotshots, eight engines, Helicopter 534 (from Heap’s Peak) and two water tenders. They were assisted by Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire.
Behrens said no cause has been determined yet.
